Who is Eligible?
First time home buyers who have not had interest in a principle resident for three years. Maximum amount remains at $8,000
Current homeowners, who have consecutively maintained the home they want to sell as their primary residence for five of the last 8 years. Maximum amount $6,500.
What is the Time Frame?
Qualified buyers must sign a purchase agreement by April 30, 2010 and close before July 1, 2010
What Type of Home and Price Limitations?
The tax credit does not qualify for homes over $800,000. Vacation homes do not qualify.
Are their income limits?
The income limits to earn the maximum for both tax credits have been raised to $125,000 for single and $225,000 for married couples.
What documentation is needed?
All buyers who want to get the credit must include documentation of the purchase on their tax returns.
What is the extension for military?
The credit is extended for military serving outside the United States for at least 90 days through June 30, 2011.
